The digital visitor scheme will change January 1, 2023. The adjustment of the visitor scheme is a positive change for residents and business owners. The parking periods, at which parking must be paid in Schoorl, Egmond aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee, are also changing. With the adjustment, the periods better match the parking crowds.
Parking budget of 600 hours per year for permit holders
A visitor can now park with a resident for up to 4 hours in a day. The municipality received many responses from residents and stakeholders to this scheme. They felt the arrangement was too limited by the maximum number of visiting hours in a day. With the new digital visitor scheme, permit holders will have a parking budget of 600 hours per year. They can use this at their discretion for their visitors. It will also allow multiple cars (up to 3 license plates) to park on a permit at the same time.
Payment periods change in Schoorl, Egmond aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee
In Schoorl, the number of days on which visitors have to pay parking fees is decreasing. In the new situation, paid parking in November-February is only on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. There is no paid parking on weekdays. During the summer period March through October, the parking fee payment remains the same: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. all days.
In Egmond aan Zee and Bergen aan Zee, the number of days on which visitors must pay parking fees is increasing. From November to February, parking fees will soon have to be paid on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. That is not the case at the moment. During the summer from March to October, parking fee payment remains the same: all days from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Customization for use problems
Cooperative Parking Service (CPS), the organization that administers the parking policy, is adapting the parking system to the new visitor system effective Jan. 1, 2023. So for digital parking permit users, the use of the system is going to change.
If users experience problems with the new system, the municipality provides assistance. About how this help will be provided, we will inform before the introduction of the changes.
