Heiloo – As was once fished at Egmond aan Zee, Huizen also has a history as a fishing village. Marian and Karen live there and the sea can still be seen in Marian's work. You also see ebb and flow in Karen and Barbara's work. There is a lot of beautiful things to see in gallery De Kapberg.
Karen Molleman
Karen Molleman makes paintings with acrylic paint. She exhibits at De Kapberg with mainly small work that is inspired by the cycle of life. Karen is already more than 40 years professional visual artist. Her work is characterized by strong images and use of color that evokes tension. For this exhibition she has chosen 'we carry the sea in all our cells' as the common thread.
Barbara Hoyng
Barbara Hoyng is a sculptor. She works from nature. Especially in the case of the stone sculptures, it is important to her that no violence is done to the essential form in terms of sizes and proportions. Even when forms are realized that are far from 'nature', we are dealing with proportions, a balance that is reason to look and keep looking. Barbara makes beautiful (work)drawings that can be seen in the exhibition.
Marian Mutsaers
As a visual artist, Marian Mutsaers has been visualizing her passions for years. Marian is inspired by photos of mainly newspapers with subjects that touch her (e.g. vulnerability, transience, anger and nature). Music and modern ballet are also often sources from which she starts. The spatial work is created more by gradually letting the process continue.
