Traveling by bus, Good idea!!!

On an adventure. If you travel little or never by public transportation, then for a day trip to Egmond, you should give it a try. It is much cheaper than paid parking. For example, get off in one village and walk to the next.

A day at Egmond can be very varied, fun and educational for young and old and is also inexpensive. After all, most historic sites are free to visit. A fish and ice cream don’t cost the head either.

Advantageous travel by bus to Egmond

Bus 165 of Connexxion.This will take you directly from Alkmaar station to Egmond aan Zee in 20 minutes. (Every half hour and every hour in the evening. You can also get off at Egmond aan den Hoef, but you won’t pass Egmond-Binnen. It’s a beautiful ride through a nice stretch of meadow overlooking the dunes.

Connexxion’s Bus 164. This scheduled service connects Heiloo, Egmond aan den Hoef, Egmond aan Zee, Egmond Binnen and Castricum and back. These are half-hourly connections during rush hour and hourly connections during off-peak hours.

Heiloo/Alkmaar/Castricum train connection

Every train stops in Alkmaar and some trains in Heiloo or Castricum. Recently, there is again a bus service from Connexxion to Egmond and Heiloo: line 164. The bus goes every half hour during rush hour and every hour during off-peak hours. We provide summary information here. See also the other pages on buses, bicycles, etc.

From Alkmaar. A scheduled bus goes from Alkmaar station to Egmond: the 165 goes every half hour during the day. You can also rent a bicycle here or, if you are a member, continue with an OV bike.

From Heiloo station you can take Connexxion line 164 to Egmond aan den Hoef, Egmond aan Zee and then Egmond-Binnen.

From Castricum station. From here, Connexxion’s bus 164 recently started going every hour via Egmond-Binnen and Egmond aan den Hoef to Egmond aan Zee. and in rush hour every half hour.

Better is, that you -especially on nice summer days- leave the car at the large parking lot of ice rink de Meent near Alkmaar. Then continue by bus 165 or by the bike you brought.
