Big bite of sand off
Spring tides and strong winds last weekend led to spectacular-looking cliff formation on the coast at Egmond aan Zee.
The height difference here and there is as much as a meter and a half. According to the Department of Public Works, no circumstances involving coastal security.
“The current will naturally replenish the beach with sand from the surrounding area, there is still enough there,” the Department of Waterways and Public Works said in a statement. There is little the Department of Public Works can do about dangers of cliff formation to recreation. “The municipality could do something if the beach is not safe to enter. But again, the beach will fill up by itself.”
