Bergen aan Zee

The seaside resort Bergen aan Zee has a unique atmosphere, with a sea aquarium and kilometers of beach, with adequate facilities for a comfortable day on the beach with all the trimmings, without that we can speak of excess. The annual Jazz & Sail is now a nationally known event that annually attracts more visitors to Bergen and Bergen aan Zee. Camperduin

Schoorl, Greet and Camperduin lie like a ribbon along the edge of the National Park "Schoorl Dunes", wide dunes covering an area of 1800 hectare. Schoorl

Schoorl is pre-eminently the place where lovers of peace and nature will feel at home. The National Park 'Schoorl dunes' is the widest and most varied nature reserve along the Dutch coast. Beautiful hiking and biking trails that wind through dunes and polders, and a beach (Schoorl aan Zee) where no cars are allowed. For children there is plenty to do with climbing the highest dune in the Netherlands and many special activities in the forestry Schoorl.

Castricum

Castricum in North Holland is an attractive tourist town. With tourist attractions such as the beach, the Alkmaar-Uitgeestermeer, the forest and dunes. Limmen

In the spring months the Hortus Bulborum, a garden than anywhere 1500 historic bulbs in bloom in Limmen. Limmen the flower days in late April and early May also very popular.

Alkmaar

In the immediate vicinity of Egmont is the town of Alkmaar. Alkmaar is the geographical center of the area. The busy downtown has more than 400 monuments, terraces, shops, department stores etc.. Alkmaar is world famous for its weekly cheese market (only in the summer months). Furthermore Alkmaar has several museums. Directly behind Alkmaar is Schermer. This polder contains several attractions like the last gardener house, museum-mill which you can see still in operation etc. To visit all is to recommend a bike ride to.
In the wider vicinity of Alkmaar can be visited numerous details. In Pants on Langendijk there is the oldest vegetable auction in the world and the steam engine museum in Medemblik. A visit here can be combined with a ride to the Horn with steam. Also a visit to the Zuiderzee Museum in Enkhuizen worth. Here you can experience how people lived and worked around the former Zuiderzee.

Further environment

Further south in Beverwijk 'Beverwijk Bazaar'. This is Europe's largest indoor market which is open every weekend with more than 3.000 stands and stalls spread over several markets, each with its own culture and theme. There is a Stroll Barn, a black market, a Grand Bazaar, computer market and the extensive oriental market. A little further south you in Haarlem and Amsterdam. Of course you will find all the possibilities of a metropolis. Haarlem is known for its museums and Amsterdam, we have nothing to add here.
These are just some of the possibilities which near Egmond offers you. Obviously, all depending on the season in which you visit our village. But what the weather is, there's always something to do. When it is not beach weather, then you will find plenty of entertainment in the immediate vicinity.
