Viewpoints in Egmond

Egmond originally originated in the Dune, the fishermen went to live there to be nice and close to the sea and to be able to put their fishing boats in front of their house, so to speak. See walked across the dune and there was the North Sea already.

In order to be able to see the fishermen and help them with lighting (lighthouse) during storms, they built lookouts.

Of course, these lookouts had to be placed on high dunes! However, those are scarce in the flat Netherlands. So they thought we’d put them on the highest dune and then build a scaffolding of wood that would rise above the seamounts.

See here the lookouts were a reality.

Where to find the lookouts

In Egmond you have the Torensduin and after a walk towards the entrance to Egmond aan Zee in the dunes the Uitkijkduin.

And the next southern lookout dune in the middle of the dunes, you get there by going right at the end of the blood road.
