In the year 977, a rich farmer from Egmond Binnen had houses built by the sea for poor families. They were fishermen who had to donate 10 percent of their catch to Egmond Binnen Abbey. In exchange, they were allowed to live in one of the houses for free.<\/p>\n<p>At the beginning of this century, tourism began to develop. People came mostly for the healthy sea air. Also nearby is the boathouse of the Royal Dutch Rescue Brigade. On the south side under a canopy has been built for years on the Pinck. This is a flat-bottomed fishing vessel as it was used for centuries in Egmond to take to the sea directly from the beach. It took years to turn a pile of logs into this beautiful authentic sailing ship. In the spring of 2007, the Pinck was christened. Our kitchen opens an hour later.
