The Egmond Rescue brigade which was founded in 1928 to serve accidents on the Egmond beach, drowning persons and victims from and in or on the adjacent North Sea. In the summer months the ERB is active on the Egmond beach for the surveillance task but do not forget that the ERB is available all year round for calamities on the beach, in the North Sea and in the dune area.

rdb-1The Egmond Rescue Brigade has about 150 members. About 75 members are actively used during the guard duty. The remaining members are youth members and older members who have had their active time with the lifeguard.

Membership is available from the age of 11 but the minimum age for active guard duty is 15. You do not necessarily have to become a member from a young age, if you are older you can certainly become a lifeguard as well.

The best known task is the surveillance task which is carried out during the summer months. However, ERB is also active outside surveillance hours and outside the summer months in case of emergencies as well as various events.

The Egmond Rescue Brigade is a volunteer organization consisting of about 75 active members. In addition, there are about 50 youth members associated with the ERB. Youth members are not yet assigned to repressive duty.

A minimum of two experienced lifeguards are present every surveillance day; during weekend days, four lifeguards are rostered. About 75 volunteers are available for our surveillance task.

Egmond rescue team

The beach station has access to several rooms:

  • Daycare.
  • Communication Room.
  • FIRST AID
  • Wet room (for life jackets, survival suits, among other things).
  • Locker Rooms (male/female).
  • Kitchen.
  • Storage room (1x large and 1x small).
  • Toilets (male/female).
  • Showers (1x hot and 1x cold).

In addition to this beach post, a tractor shed (for storage equipment) and a fuel shed (storage fuel/oil) are also located on the beach.

The ERB barracks were previously used by the Fire Department, and the ERB was assigned the municipality’s barracks (temporarily) during the Fire Department’s relocation. In the barracks during the winter months, equipment is stored and maintenance is performed.
In addition, training can be given in the barracks.

The Egmond Rescue Squad is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week and 365 days a year for emergencies on or around the Egmond beach.
