Maritime Museum Prince Henry the Navigator.


It is located in the newly renovated Zorgcentrum Prince Henry, formerly the home of former sailors, Prince Henry Foundation, Voorstraat 41. This small, colorful museum Tuesday / Sunday free to visit 10.00 to 17.00 You need to register only at reception. Special Reception possibilities for groups, with or without a drink or a meal.


The in 2007 finished historic sailing ship rests on the construction site next to the boathouse of the KNRM at the beach exit Bad South. It can be visited all year on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8:00 to 14:00 hour, except when they are in sailing. On other days by the large mesh of the fence to see the boat. Guided tours and group visits at the museum. Outside of the opening, the museum is open by appointment for groups of about eight people, with a small or an extensive tour. On request also in German or English.

Guided tours without appointment. From June / October there is every first Monday of the month, a tour of the museum 14.00 hour. (German for selected tours by appointment) Cost of the tour is € 3 p.p., children € 1.50 and furthermore entrance.

The lifeboat. The lifeboat Adriaan Hendrik momentum from March / October every Monday to 19.00 hour for an exercise. From November / m February that on Saturday morning 9.30 hour. In July and August there are open evenings on Friday 19.00 – 21.00 hour.

Admission free but there is a scale at the exit. During the fair on Wednesday in June July and August is the church of 19.30 to 21.00 hours open for viewing. There is a.o. a showcase with shells and religion.

Protestant church Egmond aan Zee. (Voorstraat, opposite the bus station) In July and August on Wednesday evening free to visit 19.00 to 21.00 hour. Here can be seen the pulpit carved by Cor Wijkermeer and font. Also during the Open House, all year round every Thursday morning 10.00 to 12.00 hour.

From Slotruïne.Lock the fundamentals on the Hoof, the castle grounds and the old center of Heiloo are year worth a stroll. There is a new bridge put into operation. The sites listed here are also in the Final Pedigree.

Lock Chapel. In the Castle Church are especially in winter, regular concerts and events on Sunday afternoons. The chapel is open during Heritage Days Sat 11 and so 12 September o.a. a model of the former castle.

Gallery Kapberg. Eight exhibitions per year. Every Saturday and Sunday 13.30 – 17.00 hour.

About Farm Slot. Exhibitions of o.a. the artists Hafre. Open every Sunday from 13.30 – 17.00 hour. Nearly every Sunday there is live music. Also 2nd hand book market.

Historical Center. In the former school on the Slotweg 46 exhibitions are regularly held. Every first Sunday of the month

The library. Above the shopping center of Egmond aan den Hoef is the new library. This has o.a. a large collection of books on the history of the three Egmonds. With a book or magazine, you can from the terrace with a free cup of coffee enjoying the view of the dunes. Open: but 14.00 – 20.00, of 14.00 – 17.30, woe 10.00 – 17.30, Friday 14.00 – 20.00 in za 11.00 – 15.00 hour.

The visitor center is beautifully situated on the grounds of the monastery and very worthwhile. It has a special and welcoming atmosphere. There is plenty of parking, everything is on one floor, toilets, reading table with coffee,stilted terrace, tours on request. The big cribs exhibition is annually attended. Except for a very well-stocked abbey shop can be found in the visitor:

Abbey. This church is in the grounds of the monastery. Here you are every day 07.00 AM to 21.00 hour welcome and invited to all prayer times of the monks. Behind the church since May 2008 the mausoleum of the Counts of Egmont. Monk's Path. Special fairly new trail along a number of historical sites. There is Egmond o.a. at the abbey a booklet for sale. A nice place to start the tour is the abbey. Groups speak also a coffee or lunch off.

From Adelbertusakker. Egmond-Inside and surrounding area is beautiful for a walk or bike ride. It is also free parking. From the village is a kilometer Westward to the pilgrimage the Adelbertus Akker, which is always open. You will also see three life-size wooden statues of Jos Apeldoorn.
