Beach rules on the beach of Egmond aan Zee
The flags on the beach give you information about, for example, whether you are allowed to swim or whether this part of the beach is guarded. Here is the meaning of the flags.
Green flag: safe > bathing allowed; lots of fun!
Yellow flag: dangerous sea > pay attention! Applies to the whole sea; floating objects such as air mattresses or inflatables are prohibited.
Red flag: very dangerous sea > No swimming; applies to the whole sea.
Blue flag: clean water on this coast > Indicates that the water is clean and there are no dangerous bacteria in the water.
Red / yellow flag: guarded beach area > This flag never stands alone; between these two flagpoles the beach and the sea are guarded; water sports are prohibited in this zone.
Black / white flag: guarded sea part (especially for water sports enthusiasts) > This flag never stands alone; between these two flagpoles the sea is guarded and you can kite here- and / or windsurfing.
Flag with question mark: child found > The child is safe at the nearest first aid post.
Orange windsock: do not use floating objects in the sea > Forbidden to use air mattresses or inflatable tires in the sea.
